    ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP

    The INSETA Medical Claims Assessing Learnership includes theoretical, as well as practical workplace training.

    Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview – please note that travel costs, relocation costs and any other expenses accumulated during the learnership is for the students own account. Students are also accountable for their own transport, accommodation and meal expenses during workplace training.

    The City of Cape Town is offering a Fire Fighter learnership opportunity as part of the safety and security doctorate. Once the candidate has successfully completed their training and assessments, they will then be appointed to a permanent Learner Firefighter position.

    To determine the successful candidate for the programme, all shortlisted candidates will be required to complete the following fitness tests:

    • 2.4 km run (13 minutes for females and 11 minutes for males)
    • Reach test (1.9 meters)
    • Sit-ups (must complete 30 within 60 seconds)
    • Push-ups (must complete 30 within 60 seconds)
    • Dead load carries (must carry two 25kg drums over a 100 meter distance)

    Once candidates have passed the physical test, they will then have to complete the following tasks:

    • Pass a written assessment as well as an interview
    • Submit their fingerprints/ identity numbers for the purpose of background and criminal record check
    • Undergo a City medical examination
    • Undergo a drug test that will be conducted at a City testing venue

    ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP

    RSM Learnerships are awarded each year to Trainee Accountants who wish to qualify as Chartered Accountants

    The learnership programme will consist of the following SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants) contents:
    – Elective Skills: audit and assurance/ taxation
    – Compulsory Skills: accounting and external reporting, pervasive professional skills, incl information technology, management and leadership, personal attributes and business ethics
    – Residual Skills: audit and assurance, management decision making and control, taxation, risk management and governance, financial management

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • South African citizen
    • Completed Matric (preferably with Mathematics and Accounting)
    • In possession of (or studying towards) a SAICA recognised BCom or similar qualification from a SAICA accredited University in South Africa
    • Dream of pursuing a career as a Chartered Accountants
    • Achieved strong academic results in all prior studies
    • Possess strong analytical ability
    • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
    • Highly accurate and thoroughness
    • Able to work under pressure
    • Able to strictly stick to deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Willing to go the extra mile
    • Able to take initiative
