GirlCode is a Non-Profit Organisation aimed to help empower and employ women through the means of technology. Girl Code has a goal to educate these women in development, technology, tech and design so that they can be better equipped as well as help diversify future companies and products.
GirlCode has three main initiative. The first one is ‘GirlCode club’- this is a network established by volunteer, weekend working clubs aims at high-school students. GirlCode club allows these young females to build a foundation in coding skills that is strong and will be beneficial for their future. The second is ‘SMME Accelerator’ – this is an initiative aimed to help Tech Small Medium Enterprises (SME’s) owned by female entrepreneurs. This initiative/programme runs for 6 months to a full year. The last initiative Girl Code has is ‘Workshops’- this is a 6-month, weekend, hands-on training that is done in person and educates candidates on how to become successful developers.

GirlCode, in partnership with AWS, is offering a Software Development Engineer Training learnership exclusively for unemployed Females. The programme will commence on 1 April 2021 and run full-time for a year. Learners will be responsible for these duties during the programme:
- assisting wiht management of dead stock in the hospital
- ensuring that security protocols are followed
- stock-take, cycle counts and variance investigation
- ensuring ethical and professional standards are followed
- issuing medication to wards and theatre as required
- assisting with pharmaceutical management within the hospital, supervised by a pharmacist

- unboxing and sorting ethical and surgical stock, checking expiries and invoices
- ordering stock in line with LHC protocol

The opportunity is open to unemployed individuals and runs from the 1st of July 2021 until the 30th of June 2022. During the programme, the candidate will report to the Senior Pharmacist and the Tutor as well as aid in the effective functioning and co-ordination of the Pharmacy.
Key Performance Areas of the Programme:
