    SAMEA is offering a PACT Research Psychology Master’s Internship. The goal of PACT Government Capacity Building and Support (GCBS) is to enhance the Department of Social Development systems at all levels, focusing on the reduction of HIV and AIDS cases while improving the service delivery to children. The intern, as part of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) will be located in PACT South Africa’s Pretoria office and will be granted the opportunity to work with some of the district-based staff. The intern will report to the senior advisor of MERL as well as give support on the GCBS Strategy 2 activities, focusing on performing research that’s both qualitative and quantitative. This research will include implementation, design, data collection, reporting, and analysis.

    Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

    • Providing assistance in the implementation and design of the identified GCBS research ventures.
    • Participate in identified studies, part of GCBS gap analysis
    • Researching and developing group analysis proposals
    • Assisting in the reviewing and development of data collection tools as well as GCBS routine programme monitoring data collection in Tshwane
    • Coding and preparing data that is applicable to the group analysis identified study
    • Publishing of GCBS papers (if applicable)
    • Supporting all components of GCBS with processes in the areas of research methodology and ethics
    • Spreading evaluation results, Annual and Semi-Annual reports of GCBS programme
    • Based on gap analysis, spreading results for studies
    • Improving data management by the use of support processes- this includes any mandatory data capturing, analysis, collation as well as maintenance of the filing systems for GCBS
    • Partaking in admin tasks, performing written translation to assist the program team as well as performing any other duties
    • Performing all functions with the consideration of having the best interest of Pact SA in mind
    • Ensuring the completion of regular data backups
    • Performing any other designated tasks

    The City of Johannesburg are inviting youth to apply for the Internship programme at the MMC department. The aim of the programme is to provide work-based training / on-the-job exposure to students, who require practical training in order to complete their qualification or to graduates who require experiential training after completing their tertiary studies.

    Interns will perform administrative tasks within the department, including but not limited to: logistical support in regard to general procurement duties, maintenance issues, telephone management, cellular telephone management, assets management and fleet services.

    Key Learning Areas:

    • Assist with administrative duties and support services in the Housing department.
    • Assist with co-ordination, repair and maintenance of telecommunication requirements.
    • Manage and control collection and delivery of stores issues, and assist with assets inventories.
    • Hand delivering restricted documents – treating all sensitive and confidential information.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

    DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

    The role is a developmental role, with the primary purpose being to learn through experiential learning about the Engineering function and to obtain the Government Certificate of Competency. The successful candidate will complete a structured development programme to be able to fulfil a substantial position within Seriti.

    • Complete Development Programme within the 30-month timeframe and compile evidence of work experience in line with Engineering Council of South Africa’s requirements
    • Present on key learnings to the Operational Management Team after each phase is completed and identify a project at the beginning of second year of developmental programme to present on at the completion of the programme
    • Attend all formal courses and seminars as prescribed in the development programme and actively participate in all opportunities for development
    • Act in the capacity of other roles in the discipline as and when required and deliver on role outcomes as expected in an acting capacity as well as to suggest and advise on improvements
    • Identify, propose and participate in improvement or value-add projects relevant to the engineering discipline by conducting research and benchmarking against other divisions and industries as well as networking with key internal and external stakeholders
    • Identify and engage with technical coach and mentor

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

    • BTech / Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (NQF Level 7) or a National Certificate N6
    • Sound references from previous employers or learning institutions
    • Proven vacation work within industry
    • Proven completion of a relevant project related to field of study
    • Prior temporary working experience in field of study will be advantageous
    • Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to the Mining Industry including the Mine Health and Safety Act and ability to interpret relevant legislation correctly
    • Basic knowledge of Seriti business principles and values will be advantageous
    • Understanding of the Seriti core value chain and Operational codes of practices, procedures, standards and guidelines
    • Understanding of the machinery and equipment used on the operations
    • Proven theoretical knowledge in field of study
