ABOUT THE COMPANY – THE MANDELA RHODES FOUNDATION

We  are pleased to inform you about Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship South Africa 2025-2026   /read full details

The Mandela Rhodes Foundation, founded in partnership with the Rhodes Trust in 2003, is one of the late Nelson Mandela’s 3 official legacy organisations. The goal of the Foundation is to build exceptional leadership skills within the African continent. By way of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship, the Foundation aims to empower young Africans and encourage them to use their talents to serve their societies and the continent.

The Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship allows for African students to pursue their postgraduate studies in South Africa, and the chance to take part in the Leadership Development Programme. Since the Foundation started, more than 16 years ago, they have funded over 500 students from 28 African countries.

ABOUT THE MRF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Each year, the Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship awards scholarships for Postgraduate studies in South Africa. Students who are from any African country, with an exceptional academic record and the desire to pursue a postgraduate qualification in the 2022 academic year, are invited to apply.

The MRF Scholarship will cover Postgraduate studies (1 year Honours degree or a 2 years Masters degree), in ANY field of study, at any recognised South African tertiary institute.

MORE ABOUT THE MRF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE

The scholarship will provide financial support for the following study related expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, study material allowance, research allowance, medical aid allowance, meal and accommodation allowance, personal allowance and an economy-class flight ticket to and from your home country to your university in South Africa, at the beginning and end of your degree studies.

Tuition and registration fees are paid to the tertiary institution directly, and allowances are paid to students twice a year. Scholarship recipients will be required to provide proof of registration at the beginning of the year, and a university progress report 2 weeks after the second semester begins.

Apart from the financial support, scholars will take part in the leadership development programme which will help them build skills to solve some of the biggest challenges in Africa. The programme is conducted online or at in-person workshops and is built on the Foundation’s founding principles (which include: education, leadership, entrepreneurship, reconciliation and and a belief that leadership begins with inner transformation).

Please note: If you are a citizen of an African country other than South Africa, you will be required to obtain a passport and visa to study in South Africa – the cost and application process therefore is for the students own responsibility and account.
