ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
Fashion for Change is an original and social enterprise whose main goal is to allow many unemployed South Africans the opportunity to gain practical skills and secure a successful job and career within the retail industry. As a social enterprise, fashion for change is far more than a retail outlet.
Fashion for Change ensures that all profits are reinvested to combat the social issue of unemployment as well as ensure that no distribution profit takes place. Fashion for Change aims t completely eradicate unemployment owing to a lack of skills or knowledge.
DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 6 months
Fashion for Change is offering a learnership opportunity to candidates interested in gaining work experience and training within the Retail, Warehouse, and Garment Repair industries. Twice every year, fashion for change recruits trainees into one of their departments and provides them with on-the-job training in these specific departments, focusing on the necessary skills area. Along with this, candidates receive individual coaching as well as mentoring and gain the opportunity to enhance their performance daily and utilize their new skills.
This programme is based on a retail supply chain business model and consists of 3 main functional departments:
- Garment Repairs
- Stores
- Warehouse/ Distribution
The goal of the programme is to allow candidates to become economically active once they graduate from the programme as well as gain many employment opportunities and enhance their skills to ultimately launch a career within the industry.
The 6-month programme also allows candidates to partake in a 6-8 week internship once they have successfully completed the initial programme. The internship takes place within an organization whose core is part of/related to the skills trained within Fashion for Change
Fashion for Change has branches at the following locations:
- Claremont: Ralph Street, Claremont, Cape Town
- Bellville: Shop 3&4, SARS Building, Teddington Road, Bellville, Cape Town
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must have completed Matric, Grade 12 or an equivalent NQF-4 qualification
- Must have an excellent command of the English language
- Must be unemployed
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old
- Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Must NOT have a criminal record

ABOUT THE COMPANY
BMW are a German luxury vehicle manufacturer, established over 100 years ago. BMW are also the producers of Mini and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
The level of complexity and technical skills required to produce BMW products are high, hence the implementation of the learnership programme.
ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP
Each year BMW awards learnership programmes to deserving students. The learnership programme is implemented by the BMW Technical Training Department and runs over a period of 3 years.
Students will acquire the relevant skills and knowledge to undertake the technical requirements on the job, focusing mainly on Mechatronics and Autrotronics.
The learnership programme takes place at external service providers, accredited by BMW. On completion of the programme, students will have gained skills and working experience specific to BMW, as well as a recognised Artisan qualification.
