    • English: a minimum of 50%

    Students who have completed Matric prior to 2008, must satisfy ALL of the above criteria:

    • Achieved a minimum of 50% (HG) or 60% (SG) for Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
    • Achieved a minimum of 50% (HG) or 60% (SG) for Biology (Life Science)

    ABOUT THE NEDBANK BURSARY PROGRAMME

    Nedbank are inviting students to apply for bursary funding for the 2022 academic year. Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards a first undergraduate qualification (degree or diploma) in ANY field of study, that is in line with the Nedbank Educational Trust and Green Economy skills.

    Green Economy skills are areas of study focused on improving social well-being and social equity, as well as greatly reducing environmental risks and ecological insufficiency (including reduction of carbon emissions and pollution, enhancing natural capital and increasing energy and materials efficiency).

    Nedbank will be awarding bursaries to academically deserving students, in financial need, who are studying or wish to study but are lacking the financial means to do so. The bursary programme aims to help address scarce-skills shortages within South Africa, with a focus on green economy skills.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NEDBANK BURSARY

    BANKSETA, in partnership with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is inviting students to apply for a bursary programme for the 2021 academic year.

    Bursaries will be awarded to students pursuing following qualifications at CPUT:

    The African Scholars’ Fund opened its door when it saw a great need for quality education during the apartheid years. Today, they help by financially assisting learners from poor families with their secondary school and TVET college education fees.

    The fund aims to contribute by way of monetary donations towards students school fees, uniform and transport costs. The ASF does not stop at providing financial support, they also mentor, motivate and nurture their recipients until their studies are complete. They are entirely focused on students wellbeing by monitoring and providing feedback on their academic progress – keeping in regular contact with bursars.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

    Bursary awards will be granted to students within ALL fields of study, who pursue their studies at a FET College, N1 – N6 qualification and certain practical courses.

    The bursary award will cover the cost of registration fees and course fees only.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • South African citizen
    • 25 years of age or younger
    • Completed Grade 10 Science and Mathematics (minimum)
    • Currently studying or intend on studying on a full-time basis at an FET College,
    • Studying currently in college, much have achieved a minimum average of 50% for all exams and tests completed.

    GreenMatter is an initiative that drives transformation in graduate level skills for Biodiversity. It was co-founded by SANBI (the South African National Biodiversity Institute) and the Lewis Foundation led the development of a Biodiversity Human Capital Development Strategy (BHCDS), with the aim of producing specialist, research and management skills for all organisations with biodiversity mandates, objectives, interest or impact, in the context of skills shortages, the need for social transformation, and opportunities for growth and employment in the greening of the South African economy.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

    GreenMatter will be awarding bursaries to Postgraduate students (Honours, Masters’ and PhD), to pursue their studies at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Students who commenced their studies either in December 2019 or in 2020, and are studying within one of the following skills areas in the biodiversity sector, as identified by GreenMatter, may apply:

    • Agricultural extensionists with biodiversity specialism
    • Bioinformatics: ICT specialists and technicians with biodiversity skills
    • Curators of biodiversity collections
    • Ecologists: in marine, aquatic and terrestrial systems
    • EIA practitioners
    • Civil Engineers with biodiversity specialism
    • Lawyers with environmental specialism
    • Geneticists: molecular biology with a specialisation in biodiversity conservation
    • GIS specialists and technicians
    • Human Capital Development: High level biodiversity education and HCD specialists
    • Monitoring specialists, species protection officers and inspectors
    • Policy developers & analysts, urban & regional planners with biodiversity insight
    • Protected area managers
    • Resource economists with biodiversity related specialism
    • Social scientists specialising in environment, indigenous biodiversity knowledge
    • Social ecologists
    • Soil scientists
    • Statistical ecologists & modellers
    • Taxonomists
    • Wildlife veterinarians

     

    The bursary is renewable each year, based on satisfactory academic performance, up to a maximum of 3 years. The bursary amount is R90 000 per year and will provide coverage for the following:
    1) Allowances for study fees, research costs and living expenses
    2) Mentoring support, career guidance and platforms to engage in learning networks
