    MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE, SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION PROCESS

    The bursary award covers the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, accommodation in residence, computer allowance (from second year only) and a cash allowance.

    Bursary recipients will be required to take part in vacation work at Impala Platinum, at the end of every year. They are also required to work for the company for the duration of the bursary programme.

    Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and required to attend an interview (at the Impala Platinum Rustenburg operation). If you have not received feedback within 30 days of the application deadline, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • Must be a South African citizen
    • Must have completed Matric and received a University exemption
    • Must be studying or plan on studying full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study
    • Must have achieved a minimum result of 60% (“C” symbol/ level 5) for English in Matric
    • Must have achieved a minimum result of 60% (“C” symbol/ level 5) for Science Matric
    • Must have achieved a minimum result of 60% (“C” symbol/ level 5) for Mathematics in Matric

    ABOUT THE FNB STUDY LOAN

    We are pleased to inform you about  FNB Student Loan 2025-2026/read full details.

    FNB Life Start Student Loans range from R4 000 to R80 000 (depending on the amount you need and your affordability criteria). You will also receive a personalised interest rate for your loan.

    The student loan covers the cost of tuition fees, accommodation on campus and textbooks.
    Students must reapply for the student loan each year, and credit is awarded based on affordability and credit assessments.

    Please Note: it is mandatory that the student and sponsor have insurance cover in place in the event of permanent disability or death prior to settlement of the loan. FNB offer the Customer Protection Plan, alternatively you may use an insurance policy of your choice (to be approved by FNB).

    PAYING BACK THE STUDY LOAN

    Students will only be required to pay back the interest while studying and the remainder of the loan is due after graduation – there is a 6 month grace period offered before capital payments are due.

    The South African Association for Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST) Foundation is the association of food science, technology and other professionals serving South Africa’s food and allied industries.     NOTES ABOUT THE SAAFOST PART-TIME BURSARY

    • Bursaries will be awarded for 2 academic years, on condition that studies are able to finish their qualification within the allocated amount of time.
    • Students pursuing a BSc Hons qualification, must complete their studies within a maximum timeframe of 2 years.
    • Students pursuing a BTech qualification, must complete their studies within a maximum timeframe of 2 years.
    • The bursary will be administered by the SAAFoST Foundation, in liaison with the relevant institutions Student Liaison Representatives.
    • The SAAFoST Foundation reserves the right not to award any bursaries.
    • Bursary recipients must submit 6 monthly reports and exam results to the SAAFoST Foundation, as well as details of participation in SAAFoST activities.
    • SAAFoST bursaries will be converted into a repayable loan if: a semester or year is failed; studies are terminated or interrupted including course changes; and studies are incomplete.
    • All applications will be reviewed in January and February 2022 and successful recipients will be announced in February 2022.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • South African citizen
    • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
    • Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
    • Studying or have been provisionally accepted to study at a recognised tertiary institute in South Africa
    • Completed one or more years of study if currently at tertiary level

    The South African Geomatics Council (previously the “South African Council for Professional and Technical Surveyors – PLATO”) is a committee of elected members, of which all qualified Professional GISc Practitioners; Surveyors; Technician Surveyors and Technologist Surveyors must be registered with.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

    The bursary will be awarded to students who are currently registered or registering within on of the following fields of study:

    • Surveying (BSc/ BTech/ Diploma)
    • Geomatics (BSc/ BTech)
    • Mine Surveying (BTech/ Diploma)
    • Geographic Information System (Diploma)

     

    Please note:
    Students who have completed their qualification at university, must register as a Land Surveyor or a Professional GISc Practitioner within 4 years of completing their BSc Degree.

    Students who have completed their National Diploma, must register as a Mine Survey Technician/ Survey Technician/ GIS Technician within 2 years of completing their National Diploma.

    The South African National Zakáh Fund (SANZAF) are a faith-based, educational and socio-welfare organization that collects and distributes Zakáh and Sadaqát to help the Muslim community. SANZAF has been helping poor and needy families for over 43 years, assisting in the empowerment and upliftment of the community.

    The Shariah has located 8 categories of Zakah recipients, including the needy; the poor; those in debt; the reverts; the wayfarer; those in bondage; the Zakah administrators and those striving in the path of Allah.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME

    The SANZAF Zakah Bursary is a grant and is aimed at students who find themselves in financial need, and unable to pay for their tertiary studies.

    Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to an interview.
    Please note that candidates will be required to settle their registration fees independently.
