    The Rural Education Access Programme (REAP) is a non-profit organisation, registered in 2001 with the aim of providing funding and guidance to deserving South African students from disadvantaged rural households, to pursue their tertiary education and thereby reduce rural poverty within the country.

    REAP is headquartered in Cape Town, with regional offices in Durban and Johannesburg where 30 staff members are employed. Previously operating as the Catholic Education Assistance Programme (CEAP), REAP now provides assistance to students from all faiths and affiliations.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE & SERVICE CONTRACT

    REAP offers bursaries to students from rural areas who wish to study at one of their 6 selected tertiary institutes (University of the Western Cape; University of Johannesburg; University of the Free State; University of Kwa-Zulu Natal; Nelson Mandela University; Central University of Technology).

    Bursary recipients must receive majority of their funding from NSFAS, while REAP will provide supplementary financial support, up to a maximum of R4 800 per year for first years and R6000 per annum for the following years. Students will receive a monthly stipend, as well as academic monitoring; mentoring; psychosocial support and life skills training

    Bursary recipients will be required to complete community service every year.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    The Globeleq Scholarship Fund (GSF) is managed by Globeleq South Africa Management Services (GSAMS) and is funded by GSAMS’ independent power producers (IPPs) and the Globeleq Educational Trust (GET), one of its shareholders. The GSF was first launched in 2014 and has currently awarded over R10.3 million in bursaries, to deserving students.

    The GSF Communities Funds are inviting students who reside within areas surrounding the Klipheuwel, Boshof and Aries windfarms, to apply for the scholarship for the 2021 academic year. The bursary will cover various fields of studies, towards a certificate or degree qualification.

    The aim of the GSF is to:

    The bursary award will be to the maximum value of R65 000 per annum (however this may vary according to UTT’s financial status). The bursary will provide coverage for full tuition fees, and the remainder will cover the following expenses: prescribed textbooks, transportation, accommodation, meals and approved trips and excursions.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • South African citizen OR South African resident
    • Completed Matric
    • Achieved excellent results for English, Science and Mathematics in Matric
    • Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
    • Studying or have been conditionally accepted to study at a University or University of Technology in South Africa
    • Good tertiary academic record, if already studying

    The Compensation Fund, part of the Department of Labour in South Africa, provides compensation to workers injured, diseased or disabled while performing the duties of their employment, as well as for death from injuries or diseases contracted while working.

    The Compensation Fund pays compensation to permanent workers, casual workers, apprentices and trainees who lose income after they are injured or contract a disease while carring out their work.

    ABOUT THE COMPENSATION FUND BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

    The Compensation Fund are inviting candidates to apply for the Social Welfare and Vocational Rehabilitation Bursary Scheme, for 2022 academic year. Bursaries will be awarded to 2 groups of people, for studies towards the following qualifications:

    Bursaries are awarded for 1 academic year at a time and are renewable each year (for the entire duration of the qualification), depending on satisfactory academic performance and availability of funds.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPENSATION FUND BURSARY

    1) Group 1:

    • You must be a South African citizen
    • You must be currently unemployed
    • You must be of working age
    • You must have acquired a permanent disability due to occupational injuries or diseases
    • You must be studying intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study (full-time if not disabled, part-time if disabled)
    • You must have been accepted or preliminary accepted to study at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, Community Education and Training (CET) or Higher Education Institution (HEI)
    • You must intend to improve your skills to return to the work force or become self-employed

    2) Group 2:

    • You must be a South African citizen
    • You must be between 17 and 25 years old
    • You must be a dependant of a COID pension or a dependants of COID people who are permanently disabled after suffering occupational injuries or diseases
    • You must be studying intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study (full-time if not disabled, part-time if disabled)
    • You must have been accepted or preliminary accepted to study at a Public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College or Higher Education Institution (HEI)
