    ABOUT THE SARB SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & SELECTION

    The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has a wide range of art pieces, from many different media and time eras. In a mission to support and grow a new generation of artists in South Africa, the SARB formed the Art Scholarship, to be awarded to Fine Art students every year.

    The SARB is inviting Fine Arts students to apply for the SARB Art Scholarship, valued at R50 000. Students who are pursuing a 1 year Advanced Diploma in Fine Art/ Final year of study towards a 4 year Undergraduate Degree in Fine Art or Honours Degree in Fine Art may apply for funding.

    Scholarship recipients will be required to partake in a mentorship programme and will be required to donate 1 piece of artwork from the graduate show to the SARB.

    Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to attend an interview. If you do not receive any feedback, please accept that your application was not successful.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SARB SCHOLARSHIP

    HPC refers to aggregating computing power to receive a higher performance than an average desktop computer or workstation. This is done to solve large problems pertaining to engineering, science, or business.

    The Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, previously known as the Shanduka Foundation, was founded by Cyril Ramaphosa and the Shanduka Group in 2004. However, in 2015, the Foundation underwent a name change and is currently known as the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to create opportunities for students by way of education and enterprise development.

    In 1996, Cyril Ramaphosa started assisting students from disadvantaged backgrounds with bursaries to attend university. The funding was earned from his public speaking engagements and in 2000, the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) was established. Today, the CRET is an independent non-profit organisation of the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

    The Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation founded the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) Bursary Programme in order to assist students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, who demonstrate strong academic results and would otherwise not be able to afford to study further. Bursaries will be awarded in any field of study (provided that the studies are no longer than 5 years).

    The bursary coverage will be based on students needs, but may include the following: tuition fees, prescribed books and other study materials, meals, accommodation and a living expense allowance (if motivated). The bursary will be capped at a certain amount, which will be discussed with students prior to acceptance of the Bursary Agreement.

    The bursary will be awarded for 1 year of study and will be renewable based on certain criteria (including academic results, commitment to the programme, etc). Bursary recipients are NOT required to work back/ pay back the bursary after graduation, however they will be expected to “pay it forward” by helping fellow members of their community.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    ABOUT THE OLD MUTUAL ACCOUNTING BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED, COVERAGE VALUE & OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

    Old Mutual are inviting students to apply for the Accounting Bursary programme, for studies at the University of Cape Town, the University of Witwatersrand, the University of Pretoria or Stellenbosch University. Students who have great financial minds, are skilled at accounting, wish to make a difference in the financial industry and will be studying towards an Accounting qualification should apply.

    The Old Mutual Actuarial Bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, book allowance, accommodation in residence and one return flight home each year if studying outside of your hometown.     ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE OLD MUTUAL BURSARY

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • You must be a South African citizen
    • You must have completed Matric or be currently in Matric
    • You must be studying or intend on studying towards an Accounting qualification
    • You must be studying or intend on studying at one of the following tertiary institutes: University of Cape Town/ University of Witwatersrand/ University of Pretoria/ Stellenbosch University
    • You must have achieved a minimum result of 70% or level 6 for ALL subject in Matric (including English and Mathematics – NOT Mathematical Literacy)

    Afhco (African Housing Company), formed in 1996, is a one of the top developers and investors in affordable housing and commercial property within the Johannesburg inner-city. In 2014, the Afhco Group was acquired by SA Corporate Retail – a JSE-listed Real Estate Investment Trust. The power duo, the Afhco Group and SACORP, are constantly developing and acquiring buildings.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE AND T&C’S

    AFHCO are giving away R50 000 in the form of an educational bursary, to students pursuing their studies at the University of Johannesburg or the University of the Witwatersrand. The bursary will fund ANY field of study, that is at least 12 months long and is aligned to SAQA (South African Qualification Authority) standards (students may check if their qualification meets standards here: https://regqs.saqa.org.za/).

    Please note the following important details/ T&C’s of the bursary:

    • The R50 000 bursary award will be paid directly to either the University of Johannesburg or the University of the Witwatersrand – no cash prizes will be granted.
    • Winners will be selected at random by a random system selector – this will be overseen and verified by AFHCO’s internal and external Auditors, as well as an internal or external Attorney.
    • Winners will be announced by 22 March 2021 at the latest – via email and on the AFHCO online platform.
    • Winners must accept the prize within 7 days of email receipt notification – if they fail to claim it during this time frame, the prize will be forfeited.
    • Winners will be required to provide proof of identity – with a valid ID book or passport and proof of residence.
    • Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash or any other prize.
    • Winners must provide proof that they are an AFHCO tenant or dependent of an AFHCO tenant.
    • When entering this competition, applicants are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the competition, which may be subject to change at any time.
    • AFHCO’s decision regarding winner selection or any other issue will be final and binding – no correspondence will be entered into.
    • Applicants consent to having their full name and photograph be published in the media for promotional purposes, should they win the competition.

    • Studying or intend on studying towards a qualification that is at least 12 months long, in ANY field of study
    • Studying or intend on studying towards a qualification that aligned to SAQA (South African Qualification Authority) standards (students may check if their qualification meets standards here: https://regqs.saqa.org.za/)
    • Studying or intend on studying at the University of Johannesburg or the University of the Witwatersrand
    • Have read and agreed to all of the T&C’s above

     

    HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

    Download and complete the AFHCO Bursary Application Form (.pdf)

    Alternatively, application forms can be collected from the AFHCO Head Office or applications can be submitted on the Sowetan Live platform.
    Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

    • ID document (certified copy)
    • Grade 11 final report AND Grade 12 latest report, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
    • Matric NSC certificate and results statement, if completed Matric (certified copy)
    • Latest academic results, if currently studying at tertiary level (on tertiary letterhead)
    • Motivational letter, explaining: why you need the bursary and how you would fund your studies if you do not receive a bursary
    • Testimonial letter from a teacher/ principal/ lecturer or dean (on institutes letterhead)
