Maps Maponyane whose real name is Masego Maponyane was born on the 16 of March 1990. Maps grew up in the Soweto township near Johannesburg.
Maps had a stutter as a child and because of his stuttering, he was teased in school and would often lash out and retaliate by bullying his peers.

Maps Maponyane’s biography shows that he finished his schooling at St. John’s College. He then went to Wits University where he got a degree in Media Studies with French and English as his majors.

At the age of 12, Maps Maponyane wowed everyone with his fabulous football skills. Perhaps, it was not a surprise considering that his father Marks Maponyane was a professional footballer.
However, young Maps chose a different career path. At the age of 16, he landed his first job as an MC and this was the catalyst to his entertainment career.
A year after he finished high school in 2008, Maps started modelling. He attended a couple of auditions and finally landed a modelling gig.
Many more came and Maps slowly got his place in the limelight. Soon after this, he was offered a supporting role in a popular South African drama – Rockville.
In 2015, Maps landed a lead role in a South African comedy series The Real Jozi A-Listers. Simultaneously, Maps built a name for himself in the business world as well.
He has been the director of many firms such as J.Laurence, GM & Ahrens, Tuta-Me, and NicheStream. He is also the brand ambassador for Investec Private Bank and the CEO of Mentor Feed.
In the same year, Maps Maponyane’s movie Tell Me Sweet Something was released. His co-star was Nomzamo Mbatha. The two had undeniable chemistry both on and off the screen, and soon Nomzamo became Maps Maponyane’s girlfriend.

However, Maps was careful not to disclose this to people when he went on auditions as he wanted to make a name for himself and did not want to be given any favours because of his father.
