    The Chris Hani District Municipality is a category C municipality, situated in the middle of the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. The Municipality is made up of the following 6 local municipalities: Emalahleni, Engcobo, Enoch Mgijima, Intsika Yethu, Inxuba Yethemba and Sakhisizwe.

    The Municipalities main economic sectors include: community services, followed by trade, finance, transport, agriculture, manufacturing and lastly electricity.

    The Chris Hani Development Agency (CHDA), formed in 2012 is completely owned by the Chris Hani District Municipality and is a State Owned Company (SOC).

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

    The Chris Hani District Municipality are inviting students who have completed Matric, and are residing within the local municipal areas (are listed above) to apply for the bursary programme for the 2021 academic year.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • Must be a South African citizen
    • Must reside within the Chris Hani District Municipality, in the Eastern Cape (in one of the local municipalities, which include: Emalahleni, Engcobo, Enoch Mgijima, Intsika Yethu, Inxuba Yethemba and Sakhisizwe)
    • Must have completed Matric
    • Must have achieved and maintained a minimum overall average of 60% in Matric
    • Must be accepted to study within one of the aforementioned fields of study
    • Must be accepted to study at a public University or University of Technology in South Africa
    • Must come from a previously disadvantaged community
    • Must be in financial need and be able to prove that your family cannot afford to pay for tertiary studies
    • Must have a total household income of NOT more than R15 000 per month
    • Must be willing to serve the CHDM after graduation if required, for a period of time equal to the duration of funding received

    The Canon Collins Trust has been running scholarship programmes since 1981, for students from southern African countries. The Trust has supported over 4 000 scholars, from 14 countries and today the Trust offers undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for study in South Africa, the UK, Ireland and Malawi.

    Solomon Tshekisho Plaatje was a South African journalist, translator, writer, intellectual, linguist and politician. He was also a founding member and first General Secretary of the South African Native National Congress (SANNC), which is now the African National Congress (ANC). There have been many institutions named in his honour, including the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, the Sol Plaatje University, the Sol Plaatje Museum and Library and the Sol Plaatje Educational Trust.

    ABOUT THE CANON COLLINS SOL PLAATJE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

    The Canon Collins Trust, partnered with the Sol Plaatje Educational Project, are inviting students to apply for scholarship funding for the 2022 academic year.

    Scholarships will be awarded to exceptional students who intend to pursue social justice in Southern Africa. The scholarship will cover Postgraduate (Masters and PhD) studies in the following fields:

    • Education: Policy and Practice
    • Humanities (including Arts, Anthropology, History and Literature)
    • Justice (including Economics, Environment, Law and Politics)

    Top priority will be given to Climate Justice related studies – in science or applied science field (the application must be able to demonstrate relevance to climate justice related matters).

    MORE ABOUT THE CANON COLLINS SOL PLAATJE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE, SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION

    The value of the scholarship will be in the range of R20 000 to R100 000 – depending on the student financial circumstances. Masters students will receive a maximum of 2 years of funding, while PhD students will receive a maximum of 3 years of funding. Funding will be renewed based on satisfactory academic performance.
    Scholarship recipients will be required to take part in annual conferences and various smaller events throughout the year.

    Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email and invited to attend an interview in October or November 2021 and final selection will take place and be communicated by December 2021. If you do not receive any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

    The Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust was founded as the result of Trevor Manuel’s deployment as the MP of the African National Congress to serve the Mitchell’s Plain constituency in 2009, whereby he discussed the need for education and skills with community leaders.

    The Trust was launched at Spine Road High School in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town, on 16 June 2011 (Youth Day). The first bursary recipients were 15 matriculants from the high school in 2012, each receiving R10 000 towards their tuition fees.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME

    The Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust will be awarding bursaries within all fields of study.

    The bursary provides partial financial assistance for registration and tuition fees (up to a certain amount). Applicants are encouraged to also apply for other bursaries, NSFAS and other funded loans or grants to cover tuition fees.

    Students currently funded by the bursary scheme should reapply for funding each year. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted and may be required to attend an interview. Candidates will be conditionally accepted based on their September results.

    Each year, ICMEESA awards bursaries to deserving students who meet their criteria. Bursary are awarded within the following fields of study (which is required to obtain the Certificate of Competency):

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED, SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION

    Alexander Forbes, in partnership with the Insurance SETA (INSETA), will be awarding 15 bursaries to students pursuing their studies towards a BSc Actuarial Science qualification.

    Students will be required to sign a Bursary Agreement with Alexander Forbes and with the Insurance SETA (INSETA).

    Students will be required to work for Alexander Forbes after graduation, as part of the work back agreement.

    Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and interviews will be conducted between 28 and 30 July 2020. If you do not receive any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • South African citizen
    • Completed Matric
    • Studying towards a BSc Actuarial Science qualification
    • In your 2nd/ 3rd/ 4th or Honours year of study
    • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in the 2019 academic year
    • Passed all subjects for the year so far
    • Studying at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa

    The Islam Development Bank (IDB) Education Trust was founded in 1973 by the finance ministers at an Organisation of the Islamic Conference in Saudi Arabia. The IDB was established as an international finance institution and today it is operating in Southern Africa as a faith-based NGO.

    ABOUT THE BURSARY

    The IDB Education Trust has loan bursary awards for 1st year Muslim South African students studying at South African universities. The loan bursaries are interest-free and are specifically for students intending to study within the following fields:

    • Engineering (all),
    • Medicine,
    • Pharmacy,
    • Veterinary Science,
    • Food Technology,
    • Public Health,
    • Dentistry,
    • Forestry,

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED, COVERAGE VALUE & SERVICE CONTRACT

    The Mtema Mashao Bursary Scheme was initiated with the aim of assisting potential future employees, by funding their studies and improving their skills and education within the sector. Bursaries will be awarded to students who wish to study and pursue a career within the Engineering sector.

    The bursary will cover the following expenses: tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, accommodation and meals.

    Bursary recipients will be required to take part in vacation working during the June and December holidays. Once students have graduated, they must work at Mtema Mashao for at least the equivalent duration as bursary funding received (as a minimum)
