    The Throne (Ferguson Films) (14)

    The Queen (Ferguson Films) (15)

    Uzalo (Stained Glass Productions) (16)

Notice how Ferguson Films and Word of Mouth Pictures have ended their boycott of the awards by entering The Queen and Muvhango for the first time in years.

They’ve been in talks with the SAFTAs organisers (the National Film and Video Foundation) who’ve promised them they’ll try to do better this year when it comes to the credibility of the SAFTAs voting process that caused them to boycott.

Clearly no-one managed to convince Danie Odendaal Productions and Morula Pictures because 7de Laan and Generations: The Legacy are still boycotting and Skeem Saam (PEU Communications) and Isidingo (Pomegranate Media) are noticeably missing after having entered last year’s awards.

How To Prepare For Acting Auditions 2023-2024

How to Prepare for an Acting Auditions 2023-2024

We are pleased to inform you about How to Prepare for the Acting Auditions 2023-2024

The lengthy process of being a part of a creative endeavor for the actor begins with an acting audition. The first obstacle must be overcome with care and imaginative creativity. Many actors give up at this point without realizing the particular abilities that would increase their chances of landing the job.

See how to turn the dreaded experience of an audition into a chance that will see you working and advancing your career by reading our 7 top suggestions for when you walk into that casting room.

Recommended: TV Show Audition Guides 2023-2024

    1. Read the work

You must thoroughly read the script before your audition for a role. Make sure you have particular things you want to say about the script at the acting audition because they may ask you about your thoughts on the writing, the story, and the character’s journey. They will want to collaborate with someone who is enthusiastic about the project, so make sure all these things are good.

    2. Do your research

What has your character experienced up to this point? What kind of connections do you have with any other characters you may be in the scenario with? What are you hoping to get out of those other characters? By the end of the scene, how has your character evolved? If you can provide solid responses to these inquiries, it will help you make more dynamic choices regarding how to approach the scenario.

    3. Learn the lines

Although it seems simple, actors all too frequently believe they are fluent in their lines before giving in to the pressure of an acting audition. The lines are the first thing to vanish! Make sure you thoroughly understand them by testing yourself while performing regular duties like making your bed or doing the dishes. If you falter, you are still not there. You will have one less concern when you enter the room if you are convinced that you understand the lines.

    4. You are the character

You were chosen for the acting audition because the casting director thought you might have the correct kind of appearance for the role and visually matched the character description. Enter the room while giving off a hint of the character’s attire, hairstyle, and makeup if necessary. You want them to know that you are similar to the character they are casting, therefore use your own accent only.

    5. Have your opinion

Although it’s very alluring, it’s difficult to try and predict what the filmmaker or casting director is looking for. Throughout the acting audition, have an opinion about the character you are playing, how you feel about them, and what motivated them in the scenario. Even if you present something that contradicts what they were expecting, it still demonstrates that you are being creative and intelligent in your approach to the task, which can only be positive.

    6.  Own your power

You will undoubtedly have anxiety throughout the audition. That is a mood that is incredibly challenging to get rid of. The casting director wants you to succeed, so keep that in mind. They desire that you land the role. Instead of seeing it as the casting director allowing, supporting, and encouraging you to perform your work, we frequently mistakenly believe that we are being assessed. This is a point that Bryan Cranston makes quite clear in his book A Life in Parts.

    7.   Don’t forget that the panel wants you to do well as much as you do.

The casting director could urge you to re-perform the scene in a new way after you’ve given the performance using your character’s views and decisions. Recognize that they view character traits differently and that they are not critiquing or assessing your performance. They are looking for your flexibility, willingness to follow instructions, and creative use of your imagination to find new ways to relate to the story and character. This is your time to demonstrate your ability to collaborate effectively with a director. You have another chance to demonstrate your abilities, so be courageous and respect this wise choice! It will be perceived as so if you accept it with a positive outlook.
