    He lost everything in fire

    During the recent tragic fire at Johannesburg’s Kwa Mai Mai informal settlement, he lost all of his belongings and his meat business. Khumbulani was pleading for donations to help him rebuild his life and business after the fire.

    After the fire destroyed about 400 shacks, as well as his meat business, his source of income, he became one of over 800 homeless people while still trying to get acting jobs.

    He told the publication that he would appreciate any assistance after the fire.
    “Because I’m still looking for work as an actor, I decided to start a meat business at Kwa Mai Mai, where I’ve been selling meat and living since December.”

    “Unfortunately, the horrible fire consumed all of my business and belongings, and I was literally left with only the one I was wearing.” “I’d appreciate it if anyone could help me with anything,” he said.

    Khumbulani stated that he relocated from Folweni, KZN to greener pastures in Johannesburg. ” I began my acting career in 2016 and things were going well until the Covid-19 pandemic regulations ruined my life.”

    “I told myself that instead of folding my hands while looking for an acting job, I should do something that will help me put bread on the table and not be afraid of my meat business in Kwa Mai Mai,” he said.

    When he saw the fire devouring all of his belongings, the 34-year-old felt as if he were dying.

    He became part of Tv2 when Black television was created. On the channel, Sesotho was included and he was an actor, language adviser, screenwriter, and script evaluator. His first television dramas include Pholoso, Mafahla a Lahlaneng, and Thabure, named after a famous racehorse.

    He got a lead role in dramas such as Morpheme (1989) and Mmalonya (1992) confirming his reputation as the finest Sesotho-speaking actor on local television. His passion for acting in front of camera was first recognized by Star Media House which ‘The Star Tonight Awards for Best Actor’ in a Television Drama in 1990, for his role in Mopheme. In the autumn of his illustrious career, he was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award by the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), bestowed on him on 2 March 2019.

    In 2018 he got a role to act on Rhythm City before it came to an end. He acted as a gangster. This was his last appearance on Television. In the interview with Sowetan, he opened up about the struggle of getting gigs. He desired to be on TV but felt that the producer doesn’t need old people. As old as he is, he still wants to act.

    Kere Nyawo was born and raised in Phiri township in Soweto in Gauteng Province in South Africa. His date of birth is on 21 October 1961, age 61 years old as of 2022. Most people know him as Popeye but his birth name is Moses Kere Nyawo. He started being interested in acting in 70s, and during that time he used to act in public earning cash for a living. While he was in high school he dramatized literature books.

    “I read a lot and used to convert stories from books into dramas. That’s where I started writing films. I became popular way before I played Popeye on Zone 14. I used to entertain people by speaking bad English and they would pay me,’ says Nyawo.

    Winnie was born in Eshowe KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. She studied acting at the University of KwaZulu Natal. Growing up, life was not easy for her.     In 2005, Ntshaba Auditioned for the role of Khethiwe Buthelezi on the SABC 1 soap opera Generations, and she has been an integral part of the program ever since, until 2015 when all 16 actors of the show were fired for illegal strike demanding better salaries after the actors went on strike demanding extension on their contracts and royalties from episodes which had been rebroadcast.

    After leaving the soap, in 2017 Ntsaba made appearances on Mzansi magic “The Road”, and MTV’s Shuga.

    In 2018, after a three-year hiatus from the screen, Ntshaba returned on TV as the lead character on Mzansi Magic hit drama The herd, she played the role of Mam’Ngadi. She has a role on Isithembiso as Mam’Lihle Palesa’s mom. In 2021, she was Cast as Faith Zwide on an eTV soapy House of Zwide. She plays a dodgy wife to Funani Zwide [played by Vusi Kunene], a designer businessman.(1)
