Zuko Nodada who hails from Mount Frere in Eastern Cape is a South African actor and director. He was born 9 January 1979, age 43 years old as of 2022. He is a married man with three kids. The director was raised by both his parents, a teacher, and a policeman
His passion for storytelling began at a young because he grew up in an environment of storytelling.
Educational background
He attended his high school at Dangwana class of 1995. After high school, he went to study at Natal Technikon which is now Durban University of Technology. At the University he obtained his National Diploma in Speech and drama class of 1999. He specialized in directing and educational theatre.
Nodada began directing in his third year and made up his mind about directing in his final year.
Career journey
After moving in Johannesburg, he stayed without a job. He then began selling shoes for almost three years. So after three years, he decided to go for auditions for Tsha Tsha. Luckily, the producer was so impressed by his use of language. So they gave him a job as a translator and language advisor.
As a voiceover artist, Nodada began his acting career on the television shows Rhythm City, Hard Copy, and Freelanced. In order to further his career, he accepted a position as a language consultant for the Tsha-Tsha television program.
After considering his options for becoming a director, Nodada landed a job as the script supervisor for the well-known South African television series Hard copy, which opened the door for more than 25 film productions. The Secret, a 15-minute short film for SABC, served as his debut filmmaking assignment.
His notable directing credits to date include The KingdomUkhakhayi, InterseXions, Fallen, Mamello, Mshikashika, and the award-winning films Matatiele and Tempy Pushas.
Iphupho, his debut film, was a feature film that premiered at the Durban Film Festival in South Africa and was broadcast on the National Television network. His second feature film, Between Friends, had its world premiere at the Pan African Festival in Los Angeles. Additionally, it was shown in South Africa’s Durban Film Festival, New York, London, and other cities before becoming nationwide.
He began filming “state enemy number1,” his third feature, in 2017, however, finance issues prevented it from being finished. Uncovered, a film he has just finished will be released on August 30 across the country in theaters.
