Noot vir Noot is an iconic South African musical game show produced by Stemmburg Television which features contestants who put their popular music expertise to the test by playing the show’s musical games in a series of challenges.

Each episode features four contestants battling it out against each other by interpreting different musical clues. One contestant wins per episode and after every three episodes, the winners from each week face one another in a semi-final.

Two similar rounds follow and the three semi-finalists play to be champion in a finale showdown. A guest artist also performs a medley of five songs as part of each episode.

The contestants audition to be part of the show – however, it is important for them to have some musical knowledge in order to be able to play the games.

Noot vir Noot is officially the longest-running game show in South Africa and also the most popular Afrikaans TV show ever. The show gives new artists with debut albums the opportunity to audition and perform in front of a live audience.

Johan Stemmet was the host and Die Musiekfabriek (The Music Factory) the show’s studio band for the first 43 seasons. The show was revamped for Season 44, including new host Emo Adams and house deejay, DJ Shelly.

Games

The signature games of the show include:

Local Is Lekker

Each contestant is given a South African song to identify. First, they get a general clue, then they choose their own sequence of four additional clues, for instance, a pic of the artist, a part of the lyrics, or a part of the song played for them.

With each clue they choose, the amount of money they can win goes down – so the faster they get it, the more they win.

Nootassosiasie

The Musiek Fabriek plays a tune that contestants have to match to one of the pictures on the board. It can be quite a straightforward match, or some obscure thing like a picture of a cat can be matched to a song from the musical Cats.

Titeltoets

Contestants answer a general knowledge question and are then shown a word from a song title. If they guess the song title without a clue they get R400, if they are given a clue and get it they get R200.

One of the titles is normally a “sing” block and if they can sing a note or two from that song they get some additional money.

Die Wegsteek Wysie

This follows on from the Titeltoets. When all the titles of the game are revealed, contestants must take one word from each title and make a new song title.

Lirieke Spel

A line of lyrics from a song appears on the board in a scrambled way. Contestants have to put it together in its proper sequence for which they win money and if they can say which song the lyrics are from they win double the amount. Some words drop into the correct slot until they get it, but of course, the money gets less.

Voorprogram

Johan gives clues to a song – like an artist, what it’s about etc and whoever guesses the song correctly must start singing it until Johan decides they can stop. If they sing the correct words, they get R300, if they make up words they get R200 and if they start to sing but then stop, or go la-la-la they get R100.

Noot vir Noot Spel

This is the game played after two contestants have been eliminated, to decide who goes to the final to play Maak-of-Breek. Players are given a single note, Johan reads a clue and they have to guess the song. If they can’t get it, they get two notes and so on until one of them gets it.

If the first person gets it wrong, the other one can choose any amount of notes to try to get it. If they succeed in getting it with one note only they get R1000 and if they use ten notes they get R100.

Maak-of-Breek

The person who wins the game, gets to play this. They are given 25 seconds to identify four songs. At this time the money meter counts down from R50 000.

If they manage to identify all four they have to identify one final song in order to double whatever is left on the money meter. If they get any song wrong at any time, they lose everything for that game but still get to keep whatever they’ve won during the show.

Noot vir Noot is the longest-running game show in South Africa.

It’s produced by Stemmburg Television which is owned by the show’s presenter Johan Stemmet and musical director Johan van Rensburg.

In 1997 the rights for the format were bought from Stemmburg Television by London Weekend Television and the show was broadcast in the UK as Michael Barrymore’s My Kind Of Music.

The show’s studio band is Die Musiekfabriek (The Music Factory).

In 1995 the show released a board game that includes a CD by MusiekFabriek as part of the game.

The show first introduced SMS competitions for viewers to play along in Season 27.

The Noot Vir Noot Roadshow was established as an annual event in 2004. The show travels with celebrity guest artists through the small towns of South Africa for several months each year.

The Kids Got Talent Contest is open to all youth ages 4-17 years old (ages as of April 2, 2025-2026 ).

Kids Got Talent will be held at the Empire Theatre on Sunday, April 2, 2025-2026 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. All contestants entering the Contest must be willing to perform in the live show if selected.

HOW TO ENTER

Create a video showcasing your talent: singing, dancing, magic etc. Only one entry per contestant. Duplicate entries of any youth will lead to automatic disqualification.
Entrants must submit their submission video to our submission platform, along with their name, address, birthday and daytime phone number. Entrants must also provide a parent and/or legal guardian’s contact information (name, phone number and email) in their submission.
Entries for the Contest shall run from Monday, December 5, 2022 to Friday, January 13, 2025-2026 . Only entries submitted to our submission platform will be considered. All entries must be 4 minutes or less.
To qualify, all entries must be received on or before 11:59 p.m. (EST) on Friday, January 13th, 2025-2026 through our submission platform.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: DECEMBER 5, 2022 UNTIL JANUARY 13, 2025-2026 (11:59 P.M.)

Conditions: By participating in this Contest, contestants agree that their name, photograph, voice and/or image may be used in any and all forms of media, without any further compensation from CSV – Belleville.

No profanity or vulgarity in any vocal, dance or any other performance will be allowed. No weapons, fire, smoke machines, etc. This is a family, friendly, and safe environment; please be respectful.

Entrants and their parent/legal guardian must only contact the Kids Got Talent Committee through email at kgtbelleville@gmail.com. Text messages and/or Facebook messages will not be responded to. In addition, entrants and/or parents/legal guardians are not to contact the Empire Theatre about Kids Got Talent. SELECTION OF THE TOP 20 CONTESTANTS

A selection committee representing the Children’s Safety Village (CSV) shall review all video submissions submitted by each entrant to determine which entrants will perform at the live show on Sunday, April 2, 2025-2026 .

For the purposes of this Contest and the awarding of prizes, these rules shall govern in all respects and the decision of the CSV representatives shall be final.

The Top 20 Contestants will be informed of the Selection Committee’s decision by Saturday, January 21, 2025-2026 .

The Contest is open to children (4 – 17 years of age) who are residents of the Bay of Quinte Region. All entrants must have the consent of his/her parent or legal guardian to submit their personal information in order to enter the Contest. In the absence of such parental or legal guardian consent, the entrant will not be able to enter the Contest. Each prize winner’s parent/guardian must sign a declaration of compliance with the Contest rules and a release in order to receive the prize components. All information obtained for this Contest will be used only for the purposes of conducting the Contest.

By entering this Contest, you agree to attend a photo shoot, live rehearsal and live performance. Note: parents or legal guardians will not be allowed backstage during the live rehearsal or performance.

GENERAL

By participating in this Contest, you agree to abide by the rules and the decisions of the CSV in awarding prizes. Decisions shall be final and binding upon all contestants. Contestants who have not complied with these rules are subject to disqualification. CSV reserves the right to modify the rules, before or during the Contest, in its sole discretion, in any way at any time it deems necessary or appropriate without materially affecting the terms and conditions of this Contest. Interpretation of these Contest rules by CSV shall be final.

Personal information collected during the course of this Contest shall be used by CSV and its authorized representatives solely for the purposes of conducting the Contest and awarding prizes and will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose unless required by law.

The Grand Prize is not transferable and not redeemable for cash, and will not be extended under any circumstances and must be accepted as offered without substitution.

Children are not eligible to participate in this Contest if parents are employees of the CSV, a member on the CSV board of directors, a member of the Kids Got Talent selection committee or a Kids Got Talent judge.

By participating in this Contest, the Category Finalists and Grand Prize Winner agree that their name may be used in any and all forms of media, without any further compensation by CSV and waives all rights (including moral rights) with respect to printed, broadcast and other forms of publicity.

AUDITION AND LIVE PERFORMANCE

One microphone will be supplied for your performance at the live show and talent competition. (if you have other requirements we must be notified in advance; such as additional microphones or cables for instruments).

All contestants must provide their own recorded music, instruments, props, etc. Recorded music and/or soundtracks must be provided in an MP3 format.

All music files must be saved as: your first and last name or artist name title of song example: michael jackson_beat it. Email your music file to: kgtbelleville@gmail.com by March 24, 2025-2026 . Please include in your email: your first and last name (stage name if you have one) phone number, and preferred e-mail address; in case we need to reach you about your track(s).

Your submission video and talent competition track can not contain any lead vocals (we need to hear your voice live). All performers in your submission video must be between the ages of 4 to 17 and reside in the Bay of Quinte Region.

ATTIRE – REQUIREMENTS

Attire must be respectable, tasteful, and age appropriate.
Entrants are required to dress to impress with costumes or wardrobe appealing for filming.
Entrants are required to be camera ready, (hair, makeup and wardrobe). This applies to your audition and live performance.

ADDITIONAL – REQUIREMENTS

Contestants are required to attend sound check (live rehearsal).
Contestants will require final approval by the talent showcase organizers.
All recorded music must be submitted for final approval, by March 24, 2025-2026 .
Changes to online submissions will not be allowed. Make sure your audition performance is what you will be performing for the live show.
All contestants will be required to sign a photo release and a liability waiver upon live performance.

Mzansi Wethu’s brand new reality show Ubizo follows the calling of gifted spiritual medium Lloyd.

Ubizo, which will play over 13 episodes, will offer viewers insights into how he bridges the great divide between ours and the spiritual world by collecting, assembling and fitting any missing puzzle pieces to complex spiritual conundrums.

‘American Idol’ 2025-2026 Season 18 Auditions: American Idol airs its fourth episode of auditions this week. The show is on its third season on ABC but the 18th overall. Season 18, Episode 4 of Idol airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and is two hours long.

Three-season judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie toured around the country with the American Idol crew to find the best singers and contestants to send to Hollywood for the upcoming season.

After Auditions are over, American Idol will go to two nights a week after that in order to finish the season by the end of April since the season of The Bachelor finishes up this coming week. The first episode of Idol’s Hollywood Week will air on Monday, March 16. It will be a two-hour episode.

After that, the top 40 should be announced sometime around March 22. The Showcase Round will begin either on or around March 23 where the top 40 will perform. At that point, once the top 20 are announced, Idol will move to live-voting, which means the pre-taped episodes will be done airing.

Kids on Camera is a television casting agency for kids and babies of all ages and we are now registering adults too, as well as a provider of insight into the film industry, that was established in February 2000. Kids on Camera offer training to youngsters on how to be professional on camera and helping to build their self-confidence. That is what they will need in the industry to ‘seal the deal’ and get that commercial they have always wanted. Presenters come out of hiding and show themselves as true actors and actresses.

Once your child has registered with us and has attended the training course (optional but advisable), we will try to set up auditions for your child for television commercials and print ads (or whatever else is being advertised in the television/media industry).
