ABOUT THE SHOW

The River is set in Pretoria and follows the lives of the Dlaminis and the Mokoenas, two families from different backgrounds that are brought together and divided by the discovery of a diamond in Cullinan, just a stone’s throw away from Pretoria.

Batho tries to seduce Thu Sheleni into selling the commune. Preparations for the family celebration begin but MaNdlovu has to leave on a secret mission. Fikile watches as the family drinks the poisoned punch.

MaNdlovu arrives to find no one home. The Bhengu family is in the grip of fear and Fikile is guilt-ridden and hides. While some of the family members are okay, others are not. Khanyo prays for healing and Zithulele checks on Nozi and Nokuzola. MaZulu begs Zakithi to live.

Shria makes a bold move to seduce Jason and Jason kisses Shria. Nkululeko finds Fikile about to run away and the police take her in.

Jason pulls away from Shria, remorseful of their kiss. Fikile refuses to answer the police’s questions and asks for her father. MaNdlovu and Nkululeko are angry that Zithulele called the cops on Fikile. Shria discovers that Mr Mchune has pulled the plug on their contract and she is forced to call Jason in.

Fikile is released but fears facing the family’s wrath. The family is stunned when Ngcolosi sends them all individually hand-written letters, acknowledging his mistakes and asking for forgiveness…

A bloody dream haunts MaNdlovu, Phakade and Nkululeko. MaZulu reflects on her letter from Ngcolosi. Zithulele and Nokuzola return with baby Nozi. Jason tells Shria he broke up with his girlfriend because he is still in love with Shria.

Nkululeko arrives to tell MaNdlovu about his bad dream. MaNdlovu sees the dreams as an omen. Nkululeko confronts Khemisi but he just finds a crazy person. Nkululeko and MaNdlovu share a tender moment. A hitman gets ready for a bloody job.

Phakade wakes up from a bad dream, he runs out to warn Nkululeko that he is in danger. Maharaj and Nirupa arrive home and announce they’re getting married. Jyothi freaks out and Nirupa tells her she can accept it or leave!

Zithulele tells Sibongile she should return home to her family until the omen has passed. MaNdlovu and MaZulu arrive at the crime scene. Phakade is taken in for questioning.

Zithulele learns that Sibongile has gone into labour. Shria smears a dot on Maharaj’s forehead and the wedding takes place. Final scene of Imbewu: Ngcolosi arrives home to his family.

His brother Phakade is a pastor and lives in south Durban on his farm with his wife KaMadonsela and his children Ntombifuthi and Nokhukhanya. MaNdlovu is the matriarch of the Bhengu family and will resort to anything to keep her family together. Zimele built his company, Maluju Oil with his friend Pranav Rampersad. Pranav is the patriarch of the Rampersad family with his wife, Nirupa and his children Shria and Mira Rampersad. A dark secret dating back more than 25 years ago threatens to break the Bhengu family forever.

Abigail tries to convince Gabi that “Gabby” is now really back, but Gabi doesn’t buy it. Chad then comes over to confront Stefan about reneging on their deal which confirms Abigail’s feelings of isolation.
