About South32 Learnerships
The South32 Maintenance Learnership programme is designed to provide young individuals with positions that will enable to to acquire the necessary skills through both their theoretical and practical training programme. As learners, they will be entrusted with several key responsibilities during the learnership programme, such as:

• Operating risk assessment during each of their tasks
• Checking on unsafe incidents and conditions, which will then be reported to their superiors
• Maintaining all of their equipment
• Adhering to the safety code of conduct in the workforce.

Once learnership have successfully completed their programme, they will be entitled to a qualification in any of these listed fields below:

• Boilermaker
• Electrician
• Auto Electrician
• Diesel Mechanic
• Instrumentation Mechanic
• Fitter
• Rigger.

South32 Learnership Requirements
To apply for the South32 Learnership Programme, all candidates must adhere to these following qualifications. Failure to meet all of these eligibility criteria and key responsibilities may results in disadvantageous consequences to the overall result of your learnership application. Basic Requirements:

• Hold a South African citizenship
• Education qualification:
  • Matric certificate with a minimum of 40% for Physical Science and Mathematics (NOT Mathematical Literacy), or,
  • N3 Technical Certificate with Engineering Science and Mathematics
• Optional, but highly preferred: has a driver’s licence
• Optional, but highly preferred: prior experience working in the maintenance environment
• Has a sense of motivation and is passionate about pursuing knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Is willing to improve oneself through as part of the individual’s self-development under the programme
• Adhere to the health, safety, and housekeeping standards
• Report any unsafe conditions and incidents to their superiors
• Identify risks and hazards during each task
• Take care of all the equipment that is used
• Able to finish the programme successfully.
