Casting for The Challenge began with former cast members of these two programmes, but it has gradually grown to include contestants who made their debut on the show itself, former cast members of other MTV franchises like Are You the One?, Ex on the Beach (Brazil, UK, and US), Geordie Shore, siblings, and friends, as well as contestants from other non-MTV competitions, shows, and modelling.
