Kwanele Mthethwa is a 25 year old South African actress and singer. She was born and raised in Durban, Kwazulu Natal Province in South Africa. Kwanele had an interest in acting so she started doing Tik Tok videos. She would email production companies and sending them her profile. Later she decided to move from Durban, relocating to Johannesburg to pursue her acting career. Acting career of Kwanele Mthethwa
After relocating to Johannesburg, Kwanele was told that the best way for acting dream to come true was for her to find an agency and she got one. Then she auditioned for Imposter season two and she didn’t get a role. She tried again and auditioned for Isithembiso and she landed her debut television role playing Ayanda. After that she appeared on Abomama season two and Show Max’s Umakoti Wethu as Nobuhle Ndaba. Then she landed a role of Phumeza on The Queen, acting alongside veteran actress Connie Ferguson.
“Oh my word, it was a lot. Phumeza was so disrespectful. I was so nervous about this character, but I had to put Kwanele aside and get into Phumeza. I had to put the adoration and admiration I have for her (Connie) aside so that I could be true to the character. I was sweating the whole time because I could not believe what I was doing,” she said on her interview with Drum. ¹
Kwanele also starred for the first time on Mzansi Magic film called Intandathu Yokukhanya alongside veteran actors Muzi Mthabela (Isibaya) and Mpho J Molepo. She is currently working on featured film which will be released next year. ²
