How to Play and win the South Africa Lotto 2020
AVOID BETTING SIX CONSECUTIVE LOTTO NUMBERS
Six consecutive numbers have never been drawn in any state or international lotto game. Smart Luck has all the drawing results for more than 200 state and international lottery games, going back more than sixty years! Even five consecutive numbers is a very rare occurrence that, in most Lotto games, has never happened once.
AVOID BETTING ONE LOTTO NUMBER GROUP
Never choose all six lotto numbers from one number group, such as all single digits, or all teens, or all 20’s, etc. All six winning numbers drawn from one group is highly unlikely.
AVOID THE LOTTO COMBINATION 1-2-3-4-5-6
The most popular set of numbers most often played is: 1-2-3-4-5-6. Thousands of tickets are bought with this combination every drawing. The selection is too far out of balance to come up in a random drawing, and even if this number set was drawn, you would be splitting your jackpot with many other lottery players.
AVOID PATTERN BETTING
Pattern betting is an even more popular method of marking bet slips. Patterns of numbers marked in a row to make a straight line, either across the bet slip vertically or diagonally get heavy play—which means sharing the prize with others if the numbers are drawn as winners. Other designs such as patterns of initials or numbers or crosses also get heavy play.
AVOID NUMBER MULTIPLES
Other popular combinations that get heavy play are the number multiples, especially 5-10-15-20-25-30 and 7-14-21-28-35-42.
AVOID ALL SAME LAST DIGITS
Many people like to play same last digits, such as 3-13-23-33-43, or all digits that end in seven, or some other favorite lucky lottery number. Even four same last digits occur in less than two-tenths of one percent of all drawings. Winning sets of numbers with three last digits the same occur in less than 3 percent of all drawings. Winning sets of numbers with no more than one repeated last digit represent nearly 90 percent of all drawings.
NIX LOTTO QUICK PICKS
Watch the video of this post here, get full details by watching video about this article
Quick Picks are used by lazy people who want to be in the action without putting any effort into winning. When you read articles about jackpot winners, it appears as though they all used either Quick Picks, birth dates, or their children’s ages. The vast majority of people do play that way. from zainfo.co.za, If the majority of tickets sold are Quick Picks, then it makes sense that the majority of jackpots won should be won with Quick Picks. However, when you see the actual statistics, as we did, you’ll find that you have a better chance of winning by picking numbers randomly out of a hat than by using Quick Picks.
Lotto players who select their lottery numbers thoughtlessly or foolishly are destined to lose even before the drawing takes place. By knowing which number combinations and patterns to avoid, you’ll have an advantage over such players—and save money, too.
AVOID NUMBER COMBINATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN DRAWN BEFORE
Many players like to bet the numbers that have won someone else a big jackpot, and by doing so, they are almost guaranteed NOT to win one themselves. In Republic of South Africa Lotto 6/52, with two drawings a week, a set of six numbers has a chance of being drawn once every 195,755 years! This should also answer the question we are so often asked, “Shouldn’t I keep playing the same set of numbers every week because they are due to hit sometime?”
AVOID LOW NUMBER COMBINATIONS
The majority of Lotto players like to play the calendar numbers, such as birth dates and anniversaries—and their children’s ages. This means that the most heavily played numbers are 1 through 31. Republic of South Africa Lotto has 52 numbers. If you play only the calendar numbers, you might be sharing your jackpot with dozens of other winners. It’s not to say that you shouldn’t play your personal numbers if you feel these lucky numbers are good to play. But we recommend that you include a couple of high numbers so you win a prize that’s worth something if your numbers do hit a jackpot.
If you won the lottery, you have one year or 365 days to claim your winnings. In South Africa, cash winning of R2,000 or less can be claimed from any lottery retailer in the country. For a winning of up to R50,000 you may have to visit a post office to claim it.
South Africa Lotto History
The first South Africa Lotto tickets went on sale on Thursday, March 2, 2000, when the then President, Thabo Mbeki, bought the first ever Lotto ticket in Langa, Cape Town. Since then, the Lotto has become South Africa’s most popular lottery game, generating thousands of millionaires overnight.
The first Lotto results were published following the inaugural draw on Saturday, March 11, 2000 and it didn’t take long for the jackpot winners to start rolling in. The very first Lotto jackpot winner came forward just one day after that first draw. Along with six others, Sharon Valentine, a 47-year-old single mother and nursery school teacher, won a share of the R 3,000,000 jackpot.
However, it wasn’t long before Lotto made its first millionaire winner. Just five draws into Lotto’s lifetime, Batsirai Mupfawi won the life-changing sum of R 13,831,850 on Saturday, April 8, 2000. Mupfawi, a chauffeur who was also studying to pass exams, had spent just R 5 on tickets and won his millions after the previous three draws had rolled over.
The biggest Lotto jackpot winner in South African history was won in March 2006, and the jackpot amount was R 34,256,346. However, the lucky winner from West Rand, Johannesburg almost missed out on his winnings. Not realizing that he’d won, the 50-year-old man went to work as normal the day after the draw, and it wasn’t for almost 24 hours after the draw that he realised he’d won. Mystery still surrounds the true identity of the winner, who has chosen to keep his identity a secret to this very day.
The Daily Lotto draws take place every night at 21:00, every single day except Christmas Day. All you have to do to be in with a chance to win is buy your tickets by 20:30 on the day of the draw. You can check the previous night’s winning numbers and prize breakdown right here.
Playing the Daily Lotto couldn’t be any easier. Simply select 5 numbers between 1 and 36. You have the option of choosing your own numbers or opting for the Quick Pick random selection. Tickets cost just R3 per board to play and there are five boards per play slip, so you can play one board or five – or as many as you like!
The Daily Lotto also has a Multi-Draw option that allows you to enter your numbers into as many as 10 draws in a row. Multi-Draw can also be played online, at participating retailers or through Ithuba’s National Lottery app.
Like all lottery games, the winning numbers are drawn each night with the help of a Random Number Generator. There’s one steadfast rule for this game and that is that a jackpot must be given away every day.
The new Daily Lotto SA game isn’t related to the national Lotto, so you can take part in the Daily draws without having to play other games. The whole idea is that prize money is always won, with no chance for rollovers.
The Republic of South Africa Lotto started on March 11, 2000 (as a 6/49 game) and in August 2017, the game added more numbers to become a 6/52 lottery.
