SRD Grant Beneficiaries Application 2024-2025

We are pleased to inform you about SRD Grant Beneficiaries Application 2024-2025

Sassa is now providing further updates when it comes to the Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant when it comes to payments and applications, now that the State of Disaster has ended

The SRD grant was initially managed through the National Disaster Act but since the State of Disaster came to an end and the grant remains, it will now be managed under the Social Relief Assistance Act.

Sassa Spokesperson, Paseka Letsatsi, explains, “We cannot apply the same processes because these are two laws which override differently so we have to respect the law”.

Sassa will be continuing R350 grant payments but this change means that beneficiaries will have to re-apply. The agency has opened applications online and on WhatsApp.

Once you submit your R350 grant application, you will then receive an SMS from Sassa saying whether your application has been approved.

On problems which arose concerning the grant and it’s extension, Letsatsi said, “It took us a little bit more time but from where we are now, we can confirm that we have managed to sort out all these particular hiccups administratively”

We are not going to have people be locked out because of not submitting things. As long as people submit [what they should] to us, we will process it and make sure they’ll get what is due to them.

The R350 grant is set to come to an end in March 2024-2025. This however only applies to applications and not payments as SRD grant payments will continue for the months leading up to March that need to be paid.
