ABOUT THE COMPANY

South Africa Airways (SAA) started operating in 1934 when the Union Airways’ assets and liabilities were taken over by the South African government.

Today, SAA fly their customers to more than 35 destinations throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America and the Middle East.

ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP

SAA Technical Training have recognised a need for highly skilled technicians in their maintenance division, which is why they have implemented a learnership/ apprenticeship programme in each of the eleven trade disciplines listed below.

Each year, SAA provides learnership opportunities within the following fields:

• Aircraft Composite Structures
• Aircraft Electrician
• Aircraft Electro Plater
• Aircraft Instrument Technician
• Aircraft Mechanic
• Aircraft Radiotrician
• Aircraft Spray Painter
• Aircraft Structures Workers
• Aircraft Trimming
• Aircraft Turner Machinist
• Aircraft Welding

Candidates are expected to complete the programme in 2 to 3 years

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• South African citizen
• Completed Matric
• Achieved a minimum “E” symbol for Higher Grade/ “D” symbol for Standard Grade/ level 4 for English, Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric OR N3 certificate “D” Symbol for Mathematics and Engineering Science
• 16 years or older
• Medically fit
• Good command of the English language
• Willing to sign a learnership contract
• Willing to undergo a training course
