About the Show: Mamma Mia 2024 Auditions

It was announced in September 2022 that ITV intended to bring back the musical theatre talent hunt model with a new Mamma Mia-themed series. Thames, the production company that brought us Britain’s Got Talent and I Can See Your Voice, is behind the series.

The show is hosted by Zoe Ball and is shot in Corfu, Greece. Samantha Barks, a 2008 I’d Do Anything finalist, comedian Alan Carr, Glee actress Amber Riley, and singer Jessie Ware are among the judges.

Mama Mia! The British television talent show I Have a Dream debuted on ITV on October 22, 2023. In the episode, the hunt for two fresh, undiscovered musical theatre actors to play Sky Remand and Sophie Sheridan in the West End production of Mamma Mia! is chronicled. Samantha Barks, Alan Carr, Amber Riley, and Jessie Ware serve as judges for the show, which is hosted by Zoe Ball.

How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? and other BBC competitions use a format similar to this one. BBC One broadcast the shows Any Dream Will Do, I’d Do Anything, and Over the Rainbow in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010, respectively.

Participants must be at least 18 years old.
Participants must be legal citizens of the United Kingdom.

Zoe Ball:

Zoe Louise Ball is a British broadcaster who was born on November 23, 1970.
Her tenure as the first female host of the BBC’s Radio 1 and Radio 2 breakfast shows began in 1996.
She co-hosted the 1990s children’s programme Live & Kicking with Jamie Theakston.
Ball competed in Strictly Come Dancing’s third season. After that, she took Claudia Winkleman’s place as host of the BBC Two spin-off programme Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two in 2011 and remained there until her departure in 2021.
In 2011 and 2015, Ball served as the host of the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour. Ball succeeded Chris Evans as the anchor of BBC Radio 2’s popular breakfast show in January 2019 after being named the show’s new host in 2018.

Samantha Barks:

Samantha Jane Barks, a Manx actress and singer, was born on October 2, 1990. She became well-known in 2008 after finishing third in the BBC talent show-themed television series I’d Do Anything.

She made her cinematic debut as Éponine in the Les Misérables directed by Tom Hooper in 2012. She has published three studio albums: Looking in Your Eyes (2007), Samantha Barks (2016), and Into the Unknown (2021).
She shared a National Board of Review Award with the actors of the movie and received the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer for her role in it.

Alan Carr:

Born on June 14, 1976, Alan Graham Carr is an English writer, comedian, and broadcaster. His big break came in 2001 when he took home the BBC New Comedy Awards and the City Life Best Newcomer of the Year.
Carr released his autobiography book Look Who It Is! (2008), fronted the radio programme Going Out with Alan Carr on BBC Radio 2 from 2009 to 2012, and embarked on three arena stand-up comedy tours, Tooth Fairy Live (2007), Spexy Beast Live (2011), and Yap, Yap, Yap! (2015).
Carr is the recipient of two National Television Awards (2012, 2015), three British Comedy Awards (2007, 2008, 2013), and a BAFTA TV Award (2013).

Amber Riley:

American actress and singer Amber Patrice Riley was born on February 15, 1986. She is sometimes referred to by her mononym, Riley (stylized in all capitals). Her most well-known role was that of Mercedes Jones in the 2009–2015 Fox comedy-drama series Glee.
She was nominated for three Teen Choice Awards, three NAACP Image Awards, and three Grammy Awards. She and the rest of the cast also won a Screen Actors Guild Award.
In the West End premiere of Dreamgirls, Riley created the major role of Effie White. She was honored for her performance in 2017 with the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical and the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Musical Performance.

Jessie Ware:

English singer Jessica Lois Ware was born on October 15, 1984. After the release of her first studio album, Devotion (2012), she rose to fame.
The song “Free Yourself” from her most recent album, That! Feels Good! (2023), peaked at number sixteen in the US Top Album Sales list and reached number three in the UK.
Six Brit Awards are up for grabs, with four nominations for British Female Solo Artist and one for Best New Artist going to Ware. She has also been nominated for the Mercury Prize thrice.
