ABOUT THE COMPANY – SAPREF

SAPREF was formed as a joint venture between 2 companies, namely Shell SA Refining and BP Southern Africa. They are the biggest crude oil refinery across Southern Africa, processing around 24 000 tons crude each day, with a refining capacity of approximately 8.5 million tons per annum.

They are situated in Durban and manufacture various petroleum products, including diesel; petrol; liquid petroleum gas; aviation fuel; marine fuel oil; solvents; base oil and paraffin. The refinery has been operating for over 50 years, when the SAPREF refinery building works commenced in 1960.

The company is a Level 2 BBBEE contributor and employ around 700 permanent staff members. Their major stakeholders are made up of the surrounding communities; shareholders; customers; contractors; suppliers; trade unions; non-governmental organisations; direct workforce; indirect workforce and authorities.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or have been accepted to study towards a BSc in Mechanical Engineering
  • Studying or have been accepted to study recognized University in South Africa
  • Strong academic record
  • Strong potential to excel in your career
  • Female students are encouraged to apply
