• Applicants must be at least 18 years or older.
• Applicants must be a citizen or legal permanent residents of the US (United States).
• Applicants can’t currently work as professional chefs.
• The main source of income must not come from preparing & cooking food in a professional environment (like at restaurants, hotels, canteens, catering, etc).

Masterchef US Format Season 13:

Generally, MasterChef is based on the British series MasterChef. The MasterChef competition takes place in the MasterChef soundstage studio located in Burbank, Los Angeles where a large area of the workstation is fully equipped with freeze, furniture, cooking utensils, etc.

While the particular format of the season has slightly varied over the years, the following challenges have all been regularly featured:

• Skills Test: Contestants ready a favorite dish. Judges check preparation skills, and authenticity, and taste the flavors.  This type of test is also sometimes used as an Elimination Test.
• Mystery Box: Contestants are all given a “mystery” box with the same ingredients and/or equipment utensils and must use only those ingredients to create a dish within a fixed amount of time.
• Elimination Test: Judges evaluate all dishes based on taste and visual appeal. The judges nominate the worst dishes for elimination and give suggestions before elimination.
• Field/Team Challenge: The contestant or say cooks are split into two teams by either team captains or the judges. Diners taste both meals and vote for their favorite.
• Pressure Test: Another form of the Elimination Test, in which losing team members donned their black aprons and compete against each other for survival, replicating a restaurant-quality, savory protein dish or baking desserts within a very limited amount of time that requires a great degree of cooking finesse. Each dish is judged on taste, visual appeal, and technique, and the losing chef is eliminated.
