Duties & Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas: • Develop, manage and ensure the implementation of key performance areas associated with forward planning, urban design, facility design and development in the Community Services and Health Directorate • Manage staff towards the accomplishment of service delivery objectives of the Directorate • Initiate and manage integrated forward planning and metro-wide facility planning for the Community Services and Health Directorate • Ensure alignment with Corporate strategies and policies relating to forward planning and development • Manage and oversee the assessment, preparation and submissions of planning and development applications • Initiate and manage integrated facility planning within the Community Services and Health Directorate • Coordinate and facilitate processes relating to the preparation of plans, strategies, policies and guidelines • Facilitate the participation of relevant stakeholders in the identification, development and adoption of plans, strategies, policies, guidelines and projects.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements: • A Postgraduate/Master’s qualification in Town Planning/City and Regional Planning or equivalent • 8 years’ related experience • A valid Code 8 driver’s licence • Knowledge of city and regional planning and development theory, planning concepts and local and international best practices is required • Proficient at the level of professional urban/town planning to initiate and deal with spatial planning issues across all scales • Good analytical and interpretive skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems • Ability to think tactically and act strategically when engaging with politicians and the public on planning issues.
