The Gert Sibande TVET College has released the academic calendar for 2020/2021 session. You can download the academic calendar below to take noe of the important dates in the new session.

The Gert Sibande TVET College academic calendar 2021 is now available for download for all students. The GS sessional dates will contains all the important dates like, resumption date, matriculation date, examination dates, test dates, convocation dates, holidays and so on.

The academic calendar will serve as the road map for the college in the new session. It is important for all students to download the academic calendar to keep track of the school activities.

Notes:
The examination of the N6/N3 and N5/N2 cohorts will overlap with seven days.
Having to comply with the 1/3 principle it is proposed that extra exam sites be created for the
full duration for the N5/N2 cohort. This is necessary to cope with logistical issues such as
packing and distribution of question papers. It further enhance security measures of
distribution of papers to additional sites.

 To fit in the 2nd semester will result in taking the academic year beyond January 2021.
 The Business Studies cohort lost 41 days of teaching and learning
 To adequately cover the syllabus the group needs 80 days of Teaching and Learning. Therefore, there will not be sufficient days to cater for the semester 2 in 2020.
 To adhere to quality assurance principles it is recommended not to make changes to the curriculum as the programme will result in a NND (NQF 6: 160 credits).Therefore the
notional time of the programmes cannot be compromised.

NOTES PUBLIC AND COLLEGE HOLIDAYS
1. This revised calendar is used to manage the impact of the Covid 19 virus. 1 January New Year’s Day
2. Lecturing staff service days when no students are on campus MUST be utilised for lesson
planning, assessment planning, subjects and faculty meetings, lecturer training, work integrated
learning and work-based experience, and administrative work.

3. No deviation from this approved calendar is allowed without prior approval by the Director-General
of the Department of Higher Education and Training.

4. Supplementary examinations should not impede teaching contact time. 15 June College Holiday
5. The internal examinations may be conducted either in the second or third term, for a maximum of
fourteen days.

2020 be discontinued.
