Associate Professor


NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES CENTRE FOR HEALTH AND HUMAN PERFORMANCE VACANCY: ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR POSITION NUMBER: P000401 PERMANENT Purpose of the position: Appointing a clinician to contribute to the clinical practice within the IPW as well as training and supervision of student and intern psychologists.

  • Ability and experience to work from an evidence-based psychological approach
  • A passion for service delivery and an interest in growing the business of the IPW
  • Good communication (verbally and written)
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to use e-media for teaching, studying and communication
  • The ability to work well independently, as well as in a team
  • Good time management and ability to work well under a lot of pressure
  • Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environment of the NWU


  • 1 Year experience in counselling/clinical supervision of Master’s students

  • Master’s degree in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
  • A PhD in Psychology
  • Registration with HPCSA as a Counselling/Clinical Psychologist
  • Minimum of 3-5 Years’ practical experience as Counselling/ Clinical psychologist
  • Experience working in a practical, therapeutic context
