How to Apply for Admission 2022-2023

Application is made through filling the application form online at the School admissions portal. Once you submit your form, you must pay the application fee for your form to be processed. Otherwise, it will not be processed.

Nursing is a 4-year full time course. During your studies you’ll gain an integrated learning and work experience at hospitals and various clinical facilities. Where can I study nursing in the Western Cape?

Studying nursing without matric is very difficult. If you wish to study at a university it requires matric but, if you take a health course through a TVET college it will equipped with the skills to do nursing. This however requires Grade 9.

Look left to see the entry requirements for a Nursing degree or diploma. According to the Western Cape College of Nursing, the minimum entry requirements for a diploma in Nursing is: Grade 12 (Std 10) – Minimum 28 APS points.

Diploma in Nursing (General. Community, Psychiatry) and Midwifery: Four Years: R425. Diploma in General Nursing Science (bridging Course): Two Years: R683. Diploma in One Year Midwifery: One Year: R254.

Pre-selection

• A candidate has to write a pre-selection test and undergo an interview prior to being considered for studies.
• A pass rate of 70% is a requirement for a pre-selection test prior that a candidate can be considered for an interview.
• Foreign qualifications should be verified with the South African Qualification Authority. A foreign candidate must have a valid study permit for the specific period.
• The Academy does not offer bursaries for prospective students.
• The Academy offers limited accommodation and a process is to be followed.

The programme aims to create a structured learning experience by providing learning activities to equip health workers with the relevant knowledge and skills to mainly assist the registered nurse in the care of the geriatric patient.

Orthopaedic Care

The programme aims to create a structured learning experience by providing learning activities to equip health workers with the relevant knowledge and skills to mainly assist the registered nurse in the care of the orthopaedic patient.

Bridging Programme

Bridging course for enrolled Nurses leading to registration as a General Nurse. On completion of this program the Registered Nurse will be able to work in Hospitals, Clinics and Care Centres.
